Civil, Structural and Pipeline Engineering
The Civil, Structural and Pipeline Engineering job area in PETRONAS involves the adoption of technologies required for capital development and maintenance of offshore and onshore structures and pipelines. We are involved during project conceptual design, basic and detail engineering, management of procurement, construction and commissioning, as well as continuous integrity management of these infrastructures. This job area is currently expanding its coverage into deepwater technologies.

At the entry level, engineers will gain good overall exposure to the life cycle of the infrastructure development. At this stage, we value applicants who are quick learners and possess positive attitudes. Engineers can then progress as technical specialists or assume managerial positions, where we place importance on leadership qualities and expertise on technical and commercial aspects.

Job Function	Qualification	Specialised / Professional Qualification / License / Experience
Civil and Structural Engineer	Degree in Civil Engineering	Experience in civil and structural engineering, preferably in the oil and gas sectors. Experience in design and construction management, conversant with codes and legislative requirements. Project management exposure is a must. Knowledge of structural integrity assessments and analysis; conversant with challenges of onshore and offshore structures. Knowledge of business tools software and engineering calculation.
Pipeline Engineer	Degree in Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering. Other degrees can be considered with relevant pipeline experience	Experience in pipeline engineering in the oil and gas sectors. A minimum of six years experience is required for a senior position. Experience can either be in project and construction management, engineering design or pipeline operations. Experience in design and construction management, conversant with codes and legislative requirements. Project management exposure is an advantage. Knowledge of pipeline sizing and design, corrosion design and maintenance, pipeline operations, material selection, integrity assessment, repair and rehabilitation. Knowledge of business tools software and engineering calculation.

Civil Engineering

As a lead civil engineer with PETRONAS, I am responsible for planning and driving civil engineering projects. This includes defining the scope of work for consultants and contractors, reviewing engineering documents and providing engineering support during each project.

PETRONAS, being an international company, provides me with the opportunity to perform my responsibilities not only in Malaysia, but also in different locations around the globe. I am extremely grateful for this as it has allowed me to work with some of the most dynamic and talented individuals in my field. It has also allowed me to experience different and interesting cultures.

Though the world is full of diversity, I have noticed that one thing remains constant no matter where my work sends me; the highly conducive working environment created by PETRONAS, and the great attitudes displayed by everyone I have had the privilege of working with.

A good example of this was when I was transferred to a new department and was struggling with having to quickly learn non-engineering knowledge and skills such as finance, business planning and business development. Thanks to unwavering support from my colleagues, I was able to overcome the challenges quite easily. Whenever I approached anyone for help, they were always ready with advice and assistance.

Knowing I can always count on support from a globally spanning network of highly capable oil and gas professionals has given me the confidence to tackle any problem, anywhere in the world.
