I am a technical professional in the Instrument Engineering Department. My main task is to maintain instrument calibration in PETRONAS’ operations by ensuring accuracy and reliability, in addition to providing technical support where required.
By providing multifaceted exposure and opportunities for growth, the company has continued to harness capabilities and potentials of its people. When I was only about 8 years into my time with the company, I was made Instrument Superintendent. I took on a management role, leading 6 executives and about 50 non executives, who were all male employees, mostly older and had worked longer than I did. The challenges I faced pushed me to leave my comfort zone and more importantly, taught me to believe in my capabilities.
I was also given valuable opportunities to gain international exposure when I was assigned to teams handling large-scale projects abroad. This allowed me to interact with people from various technical backgrounds and learn about new technologies. The diverse range of experiences offered to me by PETRONAS has greatly contributed to my growth and enhanced my skills as an oil and gas professional.
