I have stayed with PETRONAS for 19 years because my work has given me invaluable exposure that allowed me to grow into a complete corporate counsel, conversant in all aspects of the business - beyond the ambit of legal matters.
I am also impressed by the company’s ability to rise to challenges and its strength to persevere. PETRONAS experienced tremendous growth since the early 1990s, when the bar was raised to earn at least 30% of the Company’s revenue from overseas. Even the Asian financial crisis of 1997/98 presented no impediment to growth for PETRONAS.
But what I appreciate most is the unity of the company and the 'one-ness' in vision, mission, objectives and values. My years in legal practice provides me with personal experience of how tough the outside working environment can be and made me appreciate the working environment in PETRONAS; something which I always share with younger recruits.
