MEET AN EMPLOYEE IN THIS JOB AREA!
Intan Azian A. Aziz
Petroleum Engineering
I am a drilling engineer with PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd. My main task is to help design the wells to be drilled for extraction of oil, ensuring that each well performs at peak efficiency and productivity levels.

The scope of my responsibilities also extends to planning and logistics management to ensure the timely supply of construction materials and the smooth running of wells, whilst ensuring that all is kept within a prudent operating budget.

As a woman, a significant challenge has also been the requirement that I stay offshore on drilling rigs crewed only by men. This was something that I overcame in time, thanks in no small part to the support of my male colleagues.

Due to the wide scope of challenges I faced, and the learnings I have gained from them, I have grown rapidly as an oil & gas professional. Within just 4 years, I have grown from a relative newcomer to my field into a capable senior drilling engineer.

Today, as a senior team member, my job presents me with an additional challenge: the training and coaching of young engineers. It is a challenge that I appreciate – as I look forward to leading my young charges along the same path of learning and rapid growth that I have benefited so greatly from.
