Instrument / Control Engineering
In Instrument / Control Engineering, we plan, organise, troubleshoot, analyse and monitor all aspects of instrumentation and control systems in accordance with statutory requirements and engineering practices to achieve plant production targets.

In this highly technical and challenging field, employees are expected to have sound knowledge and skills in all aspects of Instrumentation Engineering Design and Maintenance as well as familiarity with related instrument technologies and software for design and maintenance. We expect employees to be able to execute hands-on design, installation and maintenance works. We value candidates who have strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Candidates should be prepared to work anywhere in the world, onshore and offshore, and must not be colour blind.

Instrument / Control Engineering

I am passionate about being an Instrument and Control engineer. With an overall focus on the oil and gas upstream field, the scope of my responsibilities covers all phases of a project, which include design, fabrication, installation and hook-up work of oil or gas platforms both offshore and onshore.

In the two short years that I’ve been working, I’m intrigued by the dynamism and constant challenges that crop up. The engineering requirements for each platform differ from one another according to their own specifications, operating philosophies and conditions. The constant development of technology requires us to find and maintain the optimal balance between cost and quality.

With time and maturity comes new things and with new things come irresistible challenges that are constantly pushing my skills beyond the limit.

To be an expert in my field of work, I am motivated to learn and gain exposure to new experiences and knowledge. Through classroom or on-the-job training and field exposure, PETRONAS has provided many opportunities in the form of training for employees to develop their skills in both technical and non-technical fields.
