My current assignment is as a Quality Assurance / Quality Control Engineer assigned to the Fabrication Yard for Procurement, Construction & Comissioning (PCC) of Kumang Cluster Development Project Phase 1. I currently oversee the overall quality management of fabrication activities for the topside facilities of Kumang Cluster Development (Phase 1). My key areas of involvement would include overall quality control of fabrication activities, maintaining welding performance, qualification of welding procedures, non-destructive testing, site inspection and testing activities, painting quality control and general project management.
Even as a young engineer, I feel that PETRONAS has given me ample opportunities to step up to the plate, to shoulder responsibilities and to be accountable for the results. I’ve learnt a lot from these experiences. I’m also pleased with the many development opportunities available, ranging from training to job assignments and coaching sessions. These are essential to building a strong foundation for career development.
A large global organisation like PETRONAS provides diverse opportunities to meet the breadth, depth and size of an individual’s personal aspirations. And with the growing prominence of its overseas ventures, I believe there are definitely many opportunities for the staff in the advancement of their careers.
Working as part of the construction site team is never boring. There is hardly a routine week. I’m taking things as they come along and, so far, I’ve enjoyed the journey.
